About

My work is primarily focused on painting my life experiences and moments that feel meaningful to me. I like to center my work around the relationships in my life between my family and friends, healing from trauma, and what it's like being a queer woman of color in my 20s, navigating life. Many of my works are based on photographs I’ve taken during special moments, capturing memories with friends or reflecting on a brief moment in time where I felt a strong emotion. I enjoy using my paintings as a reflection of that exact moment in time through my perspective. Much of what motivates my creative process is the idea of healing through creation. Creating art for me feels freeing, boundless and I feel intense devotion towards the creative process. My choice of materials are acrylic paint, graphite, pen and pencil. I like creating works on canvas and paper specifically, personally I prefer my works being physical items that I can move around and touch. I enjoy painting high-contrast imagery, working with vibrant colors and multiple washes. I am also fond of using mixed media to bring dimensionality to my works and experimenting with different scales.
